Is freediving safe? What precautions do you take?Yes, freediving is safe when practiced correctly and with proper training. At Freedive Lefkada, safety is our top priority in every course and training session. We take the following precautions to ensure your safety: Certified Instructors – All our instructors are internationally certified and experienced. Small Group Sizes – We keep our student-to-instructor ratio low for personalized attention and safety. Buddy System – We always dive in pairs or groups. Freediving alone is strictly prohibited. Step-by-Step Progression – We never push limits. You progress at your own pace, within your comfort zone. Pre-Dive Safety Briefings – Every session starts with clear instructions and safety reminders. Emergency Preparedness – Our team is trained in freediving-specific rescue procedures and certified in first aid and safety response. Freediving is incredibly rewarding, and when approached responsibly, it’s a safe way to explore the underwater world. Let’s always dive together. It’s more than a motto — it’s the first rule of freediving: never dive alone.

Do I need a clean medical record? When you sign up for a course with us you will be asked to complete a medical form stating you are fit to dive. Having a past medical issue doesn't necessarily mean you can't dive with us, but you will need to be signed off by your doctor before hand.
-
What equipment do I need before I start?Just yourself! We will provide you with wetsuits, masks, snorkels, fins and weights while you are on our courses. We are more than happy to advise you what kit to buy should you want to after finishing.

My ears always hurt at the bottom of the swimming pool, does this mean I shouldn't dive? This is totally normal! Equalising for most people is not an automatic process and takes time to learn. All of our courses involve a detailed equalisation session on the first day, where we teach you how to dive without any ear discomfort or pain.
