Advanced Freediver

This course is designed to further develop practical skills learned in Aida 2 and introduces more advanced techniques, such as use of free-fall, stream lining and improved frenzle equalisation. The course also revisits freedive safety/buddying techniques in more depth and looks at personal training concepts that divers can use to continue their personal development after the course. Students will aim to achieve a static breath hold of 02:45 and be diving as deep as 30 meters.

 

Theory will include: physiology, equalization, barotrauma, lungs at depth, buoyancy, shallow water blackout, training concepts, the mammalian dive response, decompression sickness, surface intervals and the freediver's code of conduct.

Prerequisites:

  • Be 18 years of age or older (16 with parental consent)

  • Be able to swim at least 200m non-stop without fins or at least 300m non-stop with mask, fins and snorkel

  • Have completed AIDA 2 or the AIDA 2 crossover evaluation if moving from another freediving scheme

  • Completed AIDA medical form

  • Completed liability release

 

Course includes:

  • 2 Confined water sessions

  • 4 Open water sessions to a maximum of 30m

  • All equipment

Pass Requirements:

  • 2:45 minutes STA

  • 55 meters DYN

  • 24 meters CWT

  • Pass theory exam

*All courses are group lessons with a maximum of 4 participants
